Hamas Charter

The international community seems to be gaining momentum on calling for a cease fire so Israel and Hamas can work out a diplomatic solution. There are a few problems with this idea though. First off, even the Europeans recognize that Hamas is a terrorist group, and Europe's charter says they are not supposed to engage in political dialogue with terrorists...so how can they negotiate with Hamas?

Secondly, there is virtually no chance that any peace agreement will work. If Hamas actually agrees to sit and work out an agreement with Israel, they will have disobeyed their very reason for existence...and will cease to have any credibility left even with it's most violent supporters.

Here are some of the main points from Hamas' charter;

"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."
"The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. "
"There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."
"After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying."

So there you have it....there is no solution except through Jihad. So if Hamas wants Jihad and they wish to die fighting Israel, it would appear that Israel is giving them exactly what they hope for.
