Hitting Iran

First off, let's remember to be in prayer about the Iranian elections coming up next month. I saw a news blurb on it this morning and there is someone running against Ahamdinejad who has attracted thousands of supporters at a large rally. I have a hunch that Israel is going to wait to see the outcome of those elections before making the tough choice on Iran....about when they are going to strike.

Also, let's not put it past the mullahs of Iran to "change" the outcome of the elections...if they don't go the way they want them to go.

Now, that being said, here are some excerpts from a great article on Israel and Iran.

The resulting lightning victory achieved by Israel is now immortalized by the title "The Six-Day War" and in fact, the victory still swirls not only in geopolitical circles, but also biblical ones. Intellectual honesty demands that a person has to at least consider that God's promises to watch over His people are valid, even when wading through the jungles of international diplomacy in our day. Apart from the Bible, there is simply no way to explain Israel's existence in 2009. (I say Amen to that!)

Johnson's meeting with the urbane Eban is instructive for us right now, especially on the heels of Benjamin Netanyahu's Oval Office meeting with Barack Obama this week. The American president's thuggish behavior with a staunch ally is perhaps explained by old-fashioned hubris. But it doesn't make those of us who support Israel sleep easier. And please don't misunderstand. I'm not worried about Israel. It's the rest of us who are in trouble.

Now let's all pay attention to whose name is coming up later in this article;

Israel, for many months, has been agonizing over when and how to send planes to take out Iran's nuclear facilities. Unlike every other nation, they cannot afford to hope that Iran won't actually fight an apocalyptic war. In fact, it is quite ironic now that certain Christian leaders like Brian McLaren urge Israel to go gentle into that good night and appease the Arabs and consider the "plight" of the Palestinians (who have also been quite clear in stating that they hope Israel disappears).

It's none other than the leader of the Emergent Church, Brian McLaren. And just like lots of Christians before him who question the validity, sincerity and accuracy of the Word of God....he seems to believe that God is done with the Jews and done with Israel.

Wow. God help us as we wander further away from faith in Your Word.
