20 Year Disruption

Remember the tiny, little volcano in Iceland that shut down Europe's airports and slowed it's economy? It's still making news because it is still spewing ash and last week some flights had to be cancelled again.

Now today we have this headline;
Ash cloud 'could cause disruption in UK for 20 years'

An aviation expert has warned that the ongoing problem with an ash cloud, drifting from a volcano in Iceland, could cause disruption 'for more than 20 years' - affecting the UK and the rest of the world.

Speaking to the BBC, David Learmount said that there is no technological way around the situation, with no possibility of engines being designed that can withstand damage caused by ash.

He warned that any aircraft attempting to fly through ash would have its engines permanently damaged, and would be destined for the scrapheap.

See it here; http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8685229.stm

Did you catch that? There is no technology that man can come up with to get around the situation. Ash clouds WILL damage jet engines. And with no flights coming and going the economy WILL be damaged as well.

One has to at least smile when you think about how arrogant mankind has become with all he has been allowed to learn in these past few centuries. We get so smart we think our way around God...coming up with all sorts of stupid ideas like evolution and global warming.

And here in America where we have the best chance at becoming Christ followers... instead we occupy all our time worshiping the technology that we have created.

See if you see anything in this Isaiah passage that speaks to us;
Isaiah 29:13-16 (New International Version)
13 The Lord says:
"These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me
is made up only of rules taught by men.
14 Therefore once more I will astound these people
with wonder upon wonder;
the wisdom of the wise will perish,
the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish."
15 Woe to those who go to great depths
to hide their plans from the LORD,
who do their work in darkness and think,
"Who sees us? Who will know?"
16 You turn things upside down,
as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!
Shall what is formed say to him who formed it,
"He did not make me"?
Can the pot say of the potter,
"He knows nothing"?
