Seven Years Til Empty

The oil keeps spewing into the Gulf at the rates of thousands of barrels per day....that's hundreds of thousands of gallons. It's now been 40 days and the latest reports are that the "top kill" attempt was unsuccessful in stopping the gusher.

If nothing is done, scientists tell us that it would take 7 years for the well to empty itself of oil.

I'm gonna take a long shot here and say that if that thing is still pumping oil into the ocean in 7 years....a big chunk of the ocean will be dead...and so will the all the economies that make their living along the coast....and probably people who make their livings along the coast in other countries besides ours.

Estimated by BP to hold 50 million barrels, the seam of oil has emptied as much as 740,000 barrels (one barrel is 42 gallons), or about 1.5 percent of the total. Because of the immense pressures of the earth's innards, geologists say, the deposit will completely unload into the Gulf unless the Deepwater Horizon well is capped.

With those numbers literally pressing up from the earth's core, BP and government scientists are running out of immediate options to kill the runaway well.

Revelation 8:9 tells us what John saw in his vision of the future; "A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed."

Obviously things are GOING to happen to the ocean during the Tribulation. I just can't help but wonder if this isn't one more example of foreshadowing events that are soon coming.

Please continue praying for those poor folks down on the Gulf who have literally lost their livelihoods overnight....and will soon lose their businesses...and will soon lose their homes and maybe their families....all because of one unstoppable oil well.

What a pickle. The nations are in turmoil....and seem incapable of controlling anything.
