World's Smartest Man is Stupid
The last few days we have seen the headline talking about one of the world's smartest men, Stephen Hawking, announcing that God did not create the universe.
(Reuters) - God did not create the universe and the "Big Bang" was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics, the eminent British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking argues in a new book.
In "The Grand Design," co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow, Hawking says a new series of theories made a creator of the universe redundant, according to the Times newspaper
which published extracts on Thursday.
"Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist," Hawking writes.
"It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going."
Now pay close attention to this line:
He wrote in A Brief History ... "If we discover a complete theory, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason -- for then we should know the mind of God."
Now let's go to Genesis 3:4 and see what Satan said to Eve;
"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Mr. Hawking...I have one simple question for you; Who made the law of gravity? Where did that come from?
How sad that Mr. Hawking believes we are close to discovering the "ultimate triumph of human reason"....when really we are right back in the Garden of Eden believing the same simple lie that Satan told the very first humans?
How profound is that?

This is also an interesting take on it...

That is good. I liked his closing paragraph, "The point is that ultimately you have to avoid the “Where did it all come from?” question if you want to be a consistent atheist. Hawking’s pronouncement that God is not necessary dies the death of his own qualification. His faith step here is in the right direction, but needs to go further. I simply call on him to see that this God has revealed himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ and call us to a life of recognition and service to him."
Stephen Hawking: 'There Is No Heaven'

Famed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking finds no room for heaven in his vision of the cosmos.
In an interview published Monday in The Guardian newspaper, the 69-year-old says the human brain is a like a computer that will stop working when its components fail.
He says: "There is no heaven or afterlife for broken-down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark."
