Will Jesus Come on May 21, 2011?

We should expect more bogus predictions about what day Jesus is coming. Why? Because they serve to discredit serious prophecy watchers who are trying to warn people about getting sober and leading kingdom-centered lives.

And I'm guessing that on May 22, the scoffers will have one more reason to laugh and to further doubt that Jesus will EVER return.

I was just told at a luncheon that some fellow was on KKMS radio being interviewed...and claiming that Jesus is coming on May 21. Upon returning to my office, I see that Rapture Ready has a new article posted that refutes the May 21 bogus prediction.

There is a man by the name of Harold Camping who has postulated that we “can know the exact date of the Lord’s return” to paraphrase his position of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you do a Google search using this date, you will find a large amount of information on this unscriptural doctrine that directly challenges what Jesus spoke of in Mark chapter 13 quoted above.

This man and his followers believe that the bible has a “Biblical Calendar of History” that can show, quote “The genealogies of the book of Genesis, primarily in chapters 5 and 11, can be shown to be a precise calendar of the history of mankind in this world. The Bible’s calendar of history is completely accurate and trustworthy.” From this springboard the doctrine launches into a distorted view of end time prophecy by twisting the word of God into what they wish it to say. Their points about the history of the world, are as follows:

You can see it all here; http://raptureready.com/soap/taylor24.html

Now this is really sad;

“On Sept. 6, 1994, dozens of Camping's believers gathered inside Alameda's Veterans Memorial Building to await the return of Christ, an event Camping had promised for two years. Followers dressed children in their Sunday best and held Bibles open-faced toward heaven.

But the world did not end. Camping allowed that he may have made a mathematical error. He spent the next decade running new calculations, as well as overseeing a media company that has grown significantly in size and reach.” Mr. Camping is a mathematician and engineer by trade and conceded that he was wrong and set out to revise his formula to take another shot at predicting the return of our Lord. Of course, along the way, the man is going to make a lot of money from sheep who follow him and send him their tithes. Let us note that the Jehovah Witness have speculated the return of Jesus Christ since the late 1800’s and have been wrong every time. As they are in error, so is Mr. Camping.

Stamping Out Harold Camping

Is Second Coming date-setter Harold Camping worthy of death? He already has a zero batting average after his September 1994 prediction fizzle and, according to the Bible, is a false prophet.
Nevertheless that California shaman, who should be ashamed, claims he's found out that Christ's return will be on May 21, 2011 even though Matt. 24:36 says that no one knows the "day" or "hour" of it!
A Google article ("Obama Fulfilling the Bible") points out that "Deut. 18:20-22 in the Old Testament requires the death penalty for false prophets."
The same article reveals that "Christians are commanded to ask God to send severe judgment on persons who commit and support the worst forms of evil (see I Cor. 5 and note 'taken away')."
Theologically radioactive Harold Camping and his ga-ga groupies (with their billboards featuring "May 21, 2011") should worry about being "stamped out" if many persons decide to follow the I Cor. 5 command.
The above article concludes: "False prophets in the OT were stoned to death. Today they are just stoned!"
PS - For many years Camping was not known as a pretrib rapture teacher. But now, for $ome my$teriou$ rea$on, he seeks support from those who believe in and teach an imminent, pretrib rapture which supposedly will occur SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE the traditional SECOND COMING to earth! For a behind-the-scenes, documented look at the 181-year-old pretrib rapture belief (which was never a part of any official theology or organized church before 1830!), Google "Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty," "Pretrib Rapture Diehards" and "Pretrib Rapture - Hidden Facts."

Hi lounorm,
I'm with you on your Camping comments. Very sad when folks discredit the Word of God and make fools of themselves.

However, I'm not with you on your last comments on the pre-trib rapture. That snatching away of the bride was taught to believers as soon as Christ revealed that "mystery" to Paul and he wrote to the Thessalonians in the first century. The fact that it is NOT being taught in most churches is the really sad thing....because the snatching away of the bride BEFORE God's wrath is poured out is our Blessed Hope.

There really is not much hidden in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. "After that, we who are still alive (after the dead in Christ have already been pulled to the clouds) and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." AMEN!!

in his book 1994? with a question mark Harold Camping stated that it could also be 2011 because 1994 may not be complete that is why he had the question mark. Also consider the state of the world today compared with 1994.

Remember Camping is not selling anything on the radio to make money.
Camping is the only radio preacher not interested in your money, yet you hate him?? I guess you would rather have skirt chasing, business man marketing preacher...That you may understand!
Family radio was always free to the listerners.
What has he to gain by sticking his neck out like this???
If the end comes, he is off and if the end does not come he is off. He is doing this because he truly believes God is using him for this message. What does he have to gain? I don;t have the kind of courage he has. Just think what he is putting out there.
I remember the professors in Seminary telling us that the Genelogies in the Bible are only important to trace the line of the prophets. They discounted the actually life spans. Think of it, It would take an engineer to learn the significance of the numbers so God could give us a warning of the actually end.
Whether he is right of wrong we will know it in less than 4 months.
But, you have to ask yourself, look at the state of the world. That is more scary than judgment day. What the heck is going to happen to us if May 21, 2011 does not happen.

Anybody that can't see the world is vastly different from the world just 50 years ago is totally blind.
People! Look around! Violence, sinfullness, greed and Godlessness of levels never heard of before.
In fact, nobody today really believes in God anymore. They may say they believe, but they scoff at the Bible. It was never like that before.
The people are led by their own violence, lust and greed and sinfullness. Just see what is on televison and learn what people desire. There is nothing wholesome left in their desires, that is why the end is near!!

2 Peter, Chapter 3
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Hi Reverend Fred,
you have lots of info to respond to.

First off, I agree with your comments that the world is very different today. "Knowledge shall increase" says Daniel. And if you read my blog for any length of time you will realize that the purpose of it is to try and help people understand that we are living in the Last Days...and have to be getting very close to the VERY last days.

But why would anyone pick a specific DAY and announce that God is going to do ANYTHING on a specific day? Jesus himself said "no man knows the day or the hour". So Camping does himself a great disservice by attempting to trump Jesus.

Why doesn't he just stick to the facts and claim judgment is coming? We have said that many times in this blog....because it's true! Judgment IS coming! But we don't know exactly when....because we don't know when the exact moment that the last person in the Bride of Christ will accept Christ and be joined to the body. When that moment happens....I believe the Father will tell the Son to go and collect His Bride.

You say, "yet you hate him". I can't imagine you can find anywhere on this blog that we have ever said we hate anybody. In my reading of the Gospel, that would seem to go against our role during this age of grace. We are to pray for our enemies.

Yes scoffers are everywhere in the church. Whenever I speak I usually have some scoffers in the audience. I'm not one of them. I am listening for the trumpet of God everyday...and it could happen today, or next week or next month, or next year, or next decade. I personally can't imagine how much longer the earth can continue in it's current levels of birth pangs. The eruptions happening in the Middle East may very well be the last big PUSH that brings us to the brink of the Tribulation. But we can't KNOW that for sure...since only God knows ANYTHING for sure in regards to the timing of things.

So I would tell Camping the same things I already said....keep warning people to live sober lives and keep attempting to snatch people from the fire...because time is short for all of us.

But he WILL be ridiculed on May 22 (if we are still here)...and that WILL serve to do more damage to voice of prophecy and WILL increase the number of scoffers. I think what we want to do is DECREASE the number of scoffers...wouldn't you agree?

God bless you in your trumpet blowing. I hope we can discuss all this in eternity VERY soon.
