Mass Extinction Started?

The world seems to be coming to the conclusion that SOMETHING big is going on....they don't have the Bible to tell them what it is...but they can observe things around them and recognize what Christ referred to as "birth pains."

So it shouldn't surprise us to see this headline coming out of a science magazine.

Has Earth's Sixth Mass Extinction Already Arrived?

ScienceDaily (Mar. 5, 2011) — With the steep decline in populations of many animal species, from frogs and fish to tigers, some scientists have warned that Earth is on the brink of a mass extinction like those that occurred only five times before during the past 540 million years.

"If you look only at the critically endangered mammals -- those where the risk of extinction is at least 50 percent within three of their generations -- and assume that their time will run out, and they will be extinct in 1,000 years, that puts us clearly outside any range of normal, and tells us that we are moving into the mass extinction realm," said principal author Anthony D. Barnosky, UC Berkeley professor of integrative biology, a curator in the Museum of Paleontology and a research paleontologist in the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology.

"Our findings highlight how essential it is to save critically endangered, endangered and vulnerable species," Barnosky added. "With them, Earth's biodiversity remains in pretty good shape compared to the long-term biodiversity baseline. If most of them die, even if their disappearance is stretched out over the next 1,000 years, the sixth mass extinction will have arrived."

No doubt the world is getting sick on many different fronts....getting sick of having sin, corruption, weeds, garbage and pollution. It is YEARNING to become what it will become when Jesus comes to reign for 1000 years immediately following the Great Tribulation.

But as we talked about in Bible study last night, there is a HUGE difference in understanding between biblical liberals and fundamental believers. The liberals believe it is our job to make the world a better place and once we do MAYBE Jesus will come back and tell us what a good job of caring for the earth we did.

But the Bible is clear that the world will get worse and worse, sin will increase, famine and earthquakes will increase....and just about everything will be dead and burning.....and THEN he will return.

You can see the wide gap in understanding that exists....and furthermore you can see how angry the liberals are going to get at the conservatives because we are not joining in to save the earth.....we are much more concerned about trying to save HIS people FROM the earth...before the trumpet blows.

The harvest is at hand.....and you helping Christ to gather or are you helping Satan scatter?
