Christ's Call

A reader sent me this great quote.....HOW TRUE IT IS!!

Christ's call is to save the lost, not the stiff-necked; He came not to call scoffers but sinners to repentance; not to build and furnish comfortable chapels, churches, and cathedrals at home in which to rock Christian professors to sleep by means of clever essays, stereotyped prayers, and artistic musical performances, but to capture men from the devil's clutches and the very jaws of Hell. This can be accomplished only by a red-hot, unconventional, unfettered devotion, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to the Lord Jesus Christ.

C.T. Studd, 1860-1931, Charles Thomas Studd is remembered both as a cricketer and missionary.

How many of us have been put to sleep by clever essays, professors questioning the validity of the Bible, doubting the existence of hell, spending all of our time on meetings to raise money to build more churches...while in the process totally ignoring the clear call that Christ had to ALL OF US to "Go and make disciples"...and snatch people from hell.

  1. Great point here, and one in which our church is currently questioning (whether we have a heart for the lost). So where do we focus first, as it seems the world is our oyster? In answering my own question, it's likely just moving on from many stiff-necked friends, relatives and aquaintenances and onto others...
