Worst Drought in 60 Years

Jesus said there will be famines as the end of the age approaches.  And certainly we are seeing high food prices starting to take their toll as a billion people are being pushed into hunger by $7.25 per bushel corn when only a few years ago it was $1.50.

Now today we find the headline that the Horn of Africa is suffering its worst drought in 60 years and millions of people will be starving.

Some parts of the Horn of Africa have been hit by the worst drought in 60 years, the UN says.

The numbers now affected are huge, Ohca says: 3.2m in Ethiopia, 3.2m in Kenya, 2.6m in Somalia and more than 100,000 in Djibouti.

While conflict has been a fact of life for them for years, it is the drought that has brought them to breaking point. Many have walked for days, are exhausted, in poor health, desperate for food and water.

Nearly one third of all children in the Juba region of Somalia are acutely malnourished, while in parts of Ethiopia the figure is even higher, the UN research says. Parts of Uganda are also suffering from the drought.

This is just one more problem that the world has no answer to.  What do you think is going to be the result in the next 10-20 years as billions of poor people who are undernourished, have no education and have no opportunity whatsoever to make a living?  What do people (especially young men) do when they have no hope for a wife, a family, a house or even a job?

If these poor folks were followers of Christ they would certainly look around them and believe that The Tribulation had already started...and be praying for Jesus to come quickly to save them from this hell on earth.
