Republicans--No Deal While Obama In Office

As Minnesota continues its grinding government halt...the Federal Government seems like it might be unable to avoid its own grinding halt.

These words from Republican leaders are pretty serious...and we can't go too many more days before a Federal shut down becomes inevitable.

The Senate's top Republican said Tuesday that he did not see a way for Republicans and Democrats to come to agreement on meaningful deficit reduction as long as President Obama remains in office.

"After years of discussions and months of negotiations, I have little question that as long as this president is in the Oval Office, a real solution is probably unattainable," Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said in remarks on the Senate floor.

The remarks come as negotiations between Republicans and Democrats intensify on long-term deficit reduction ahead of a looming deadline on how much the United States can legally borrow.

"The president has presented us with three choices: smoke and mirrors, tax hikes, or default. Republicans choose none of the above. I had hoped to do good, but I refuse to do harm. So Republicans will choose a path that actually reflects the will of the people, which is to do the responsible thing and ensure that the government doesn't default on its obligations," he said.

It is interesting that when Obama presented his budget to the Senate a few months ago it was voted down 97-0....meaning there wasn't even a Democrat who liked it.  But yet he is now holding himself out as the parent in the room...and the Congress is all the little kids who need to "eat their peas".  No wonder the Republicans are so upset.

I had a pretty good idea that Obama would be bad for this country...but I didn't realize how quickly it would go from bad to worse.

As I tell folks...we were already driving towards the abyss before Obama took the steering wheel, but now that he has the wheel, its like he has locked all the doors, pushed the pedal to the floor and is going to do his level best to make sure we drive off it all full speed.  And that means ALL OF US.
