Twilight's Last Gleaming

America is coming apart.  The moral decay, corruption, ignorance and greed can only get piled on for so long before it capsizes the whole boat.  And friends, the boat IS going to capsize....probably a lot sooner than anyone realizes.

So these are EXCITING days for Christians in America!

Some might say, "Exciting?....these days are terrifying!  The nations are reeling, my bank account looks awful, I just lost my job, we are late on the mortgage, I have an ulcer, Obama is going to get re-elected, there is a war coming with Iran, earthquakes, tornadoes and solar storms are happening so often....one of them is going to hit me soon!  How can you say these are exciting times?"

They are exciting for followers of Christ because WE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD that Jesus left here on earth to illuminate the darkness until He returns.  And what is the best way to see a light?...to have it dark!!  It makes perfect sense!!  So as we see the darkness coming all around us, we need to be recharging our batteries, making sure the bulb is new, understanding where all the switches are and getting ready to be part of the great harvest of light!

If you need a great book to get excited about the coming darkness, spend $10 and buy the book TWILIGHT'S LAST GLEAMING, HOW AMERICA'S LAST DAYS CAN BE YOUR BEST DAYS, by Robert Jeffress.

In the book, Jeffress uses the example of a jewelry store salesman.  When you go to the glass counter and ask to see a ring or bracelet, the first thing the salesman will do is set out a piece of black cloth and then will lay the ring on the cloth.  Of course the purpose of the black cloth is to make the jewel look so much more brilliant.  This world is that dark cloth.

Sadly, in America and a few other Western nations, the world has become a nice, white cloth in our eyes.  We have so much wealth, luxury, homes and food stuffed into every grocery store that we have totally forgotten our mission here on earth.  And our ONLY mission is to go and make disciples of Jesus Christ to all nations.  Our ONLY mission is to snatch people from the fire.

So let's all ask ourselves if what Jeffress says applies to us, "In the same way, fear is not so much a problem itself as in indicator of something else wrong in your life.  Almost without exception anxiety is an indicator that we have built our lives around the temporal rather than the eternal.  When our sense of well-being in life depends on our net worth, our jobs, our health or our family, then we become fearful when those things are threatened."

Friends...are we fearful and anxious?  Or are we excited that this adulterous nation is about to come apart and we may get to play a really big role in leading people to Christ...because we have the answers to what they are missing?

"The harvest is at hand and the workers are few," said Jesus.  Let's get ready to shine even brighter as the lights go out!!
