China Sends Aircraft Carrier

A few days ago we did a post on China sending war planes to show they are serious about claiming some airspace around some uninhabited islands that Japan also claims as theirs.

Now we have China sailing their first aircraft carrier into the same vicinity.

It would appear that China wants to play a deadly game of chicken.

I have no doubt the U.S. Air Force and Navy could probably pound on China's only carrier and her copy-cat jet fighters....but is the USA really willing to pound on China at this point in our history?

ABOARD LIAONING AIRCRAFT CARRIER, Nov. 28 -- China's first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, passed through the Taiwan Strait on Thursday morning on its way to a training mission in the South China Sea.

It took about 10 hours for the carrier and its four escort ships to get through the strait separating the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

The Liaoning entered the Taiwan Strait on Wednesday afternoon after it left its home port in Qingdao of east China's Shandong Province on Tuesday for the South China Sea on a scientific and training mission.

It was escorted by two missile destroyers, the Shenyang and Shijiazhuang, and two missile frigates, the Yantai and Weifang.

During the voyage, the carrier has kept a high degree of vigilance against approaches from foreign warships and aircraft, according to Liaoning Captain Zhang Zheng.

This is the first time the carrier has conducted a cross-sea training voyage and passed through the Taiwan Strait since it was commissioned into the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy in September last year, according to Zhang.

It is also the fifth time this year that the vessel has been out to sea for experiments and training, the captain said, adding that all the year's operations have been conducted as scheduled.

Progress has been made regarding everything from integration of the carrier and carrier-borne aircraft to the skills of the carrier staff and aircraft pilots to the testing of equipment under complicated conditions, which has laid a firm foundation for proceeding trials, said Zhang.

The upcoming South China Sea engagement is a normal arrangement in the carrier's scheduled training, according to the PLA Navy.

The Liaoning is China's only aircraft carrier in operation. It was refitted based on an unfinished carrier of the former Soviet Union. The refitted carrier was delivered to the navy on Sept. 25, 2012.

Friends, China is a mess!!  The pollution is deadly, dead pigs by the thousands float in their rivers, they have entire cities built without a soul living in them, they don't have enough women to keep their men satisfied and they are one of the worst human-rights violators in the entire world....but that means nothing if they decide to provoke a territory/military mess in the South China Sea.

And let's imagine how the conversation might play out if China and USA start throwing punches at each other around Taiwan....

"Hey China, this is Obama...as you know we are a little cash-pinched right now with all this Great Recession and all the wars we have been going through....so anyway, do you think you could refinance that $1 Trillion of of Treasury Bonds that you own....because we need some more money to buy some more missiles to refit our aircraft carrier that is based in the South China Sea so we can continue defending Taiwan from your aggression.  So I'm asking you, kindly, to bid on those Treasury's when they come up for auction...OK?"
