Dough Without Yeast Carried in Troughs Covered With Cloth
In doing my Bible reading this morning I noticed something cool that I maybe hadn’t seen in a while. We are in Exodus and the Passover has just happened. The Israelites have killed the spotless lamb and covered their doors with the blood of the lamb. The angel of death has passed over all of them and now Pharoah has told them they can leave Egypt. They leave exactly 430 years to the day from when Jacob and his family had first arrived.
So of course the entire Passover story is foreshadowing Jesus who would arrive as OUR spotless, sinless, lamb. And so we are covered by his blood so the wrath of God is no longer upon us.
So here is the verse that jumped out at me today from Exodus 12:34
34 So the people took their dough before the yeast was added, and carried it on their shoulders in kneading troughs wrapped in clothing.
I had never seen the detail of Jesus in that verse before. Jesus is the bread of life. Jesus was free from yeast in his flesh which of course is sin. The yeast-less dough left Egypt being carried in troughs wrapped in cloth.
1500 years later Jesus was born in Bethlehem and laid in a feeding trough wrapped in clothes.
The detail of our God never ceases to amaze!

Thanks for sharing this nugget. I am continually amazed how the Old Testament points to Jesus.
