End of Earth Postponed

We have talked about all the chatter about how the ancient Mayan calendar is supposed to end in 2012...which has ushered in all sorts of theories on what may happen in 2012.

For the record, we have blogged in the past that according to the Bible there is no way the earth can end in 2012. According to the Bible the last 7 years before the end of the age will commence when the Antichrist signs a peace agreement with Israel and it's Arab enemies. According to the Bible that won't happen until AFTER the rapture.

SO....by just using reasonable deduction we can conclude that since the rapture hasn't happened...the Antichrist can't be revealed. And since the Antichrist hasn't been revealed he can't begin to sign a peace agreement....so even if the rapture happened tomorrow, the earth would still have 7+ years to exist before the end of the age.

In conclusion, I know the earth will not end in 2012. However, the rapture of the church could happen any day now. And believe me....you will NOT want to miss the rapture.

With all that being said, a faithful reader send me this article today;

End of the Earth Postponed

It's a good news/bad news situation for believers in the 2012 Mayan apocalypse. The good news is that the Mayan "Long Count" calendar may not end on Dec. 21, 2012 (and, by extension, the world may not end along with it). The bad news for prophecy believers? If the calendar doesn't end in December 2012, no one knows when it actually will - or if it has already.

A new critique, published as a chapter in the new textbook "Calendars and Years II: Astronomy and Time in the Ancient and Medieval World" (Oxbow Books, 2010), argues that the accepted conversions of dates from Mayan to the modern calendar may be off by as much as 50 or 100 years. That would throw the supposed and overhyped 2012 apocalypse off by decades and cast into doubt the dates of historical Mayan events. (The doomsday worries are based on the fact that the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, much as our year ends on Dec. 31.)

What I find incredibly interesting is that the world news if filled with articles that talk about the end of the earth, Armageddon, collapse of civilization, prophecy, doomsday, etc...

I believe it's possible that all this talk is being used by God to get those folks whose names are written in The Book to turn to God before it's too late...BUT....I also believe that Satan is using all this talk to get people to understand that they need a savior to come and give them answers and save them from global warming. And when the Antichrist comes riding on a white horse pretending to be that savior...they will welcome him with ticker tape parades....just as the Bible predicted thousands of years ago.

P.S. If you are reading this blog and truly don't know how you can be included in the rapture, please leave a comment on this post and we can make sure the Holy Spirit stamps your ticket to fly.

You are correct...no man knows the day or the hour. But please remember that 1 Thessalonians said that, "this day won't surprise us" if we are watching. We should certainly understand the season that we are in. With all that is going on in the world, many of us WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED if the trumpet blew any time now.
