Deadly Quake Hits Italy

Another quake has struck that is making headlines.  In earlier days this deadly quake would have been a news event that would have probably been in the news cycle for a week...showing the buildings destroyed and talking about the deaths and injuries.  But now that quakes are happening almost weekly this one might only be in the news cycle for a day.

SANT’AGOSTINO DI FERRARA, Italy — A magnitude-6.0 earthquake shook several small towns in northeast Italy, killing four people, knocking down a clock tower and other centuries-old buildings and causing millions in losses to the region known for making Parmesan cheese.

The quake struck at 4:04 a.m. Sunday, with its epicenter about 35 kilometers (22 miles) north of Bologna at a relatively shallow depth of 5 kilometers (3.2 miles), the U.S. Geological Survey said. Civil protection agency official Adriano Gumina described it as the worst quake to hit the region since the 1300s.

Yep...you read that one correctly....the worst quake to hit the region in over 700 years...but it will barely make the news cycle for more than a day.

What do you think is going on with all these strange earthquakes?  Oh well...probably all just one big coincidence that Italy is going bankrupt along with the rest of Europe and quakes seem to be happening in "various" places....so let's all just go back to sleep...nothing to see here folks.
