Iran and Iraq Sign Defense Deal

As the country song says, "I don't know the difference between Iraq and Iran...."

Actually, that country singer wouldn't have been far off had he been singing about ancient Persia.  Back in OT days, what is now known as Iraq WAS part of the Persian Empire.

God told the prophet Ezekiel that in the Last Days, after Israel had been reformed in the Promised land;  4 I will turn you (coalition) around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. 5 Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets, 6 also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.

So Persia is a nation to watch in the coming coalition.  Of course the modern nation of Iran IS what is left of the Persian empire....but maybe we should be watching for the nations around her to begin joining back with her on a military and political basis?

On Thursday, the Iranian Minister of Defense and his Iraqi counterparts, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi and Saadoun al-Dulaimi, respectively, signed a document of bilateral cooperation in the defense field. According to the paper, the execution of these agreements will deepen even further the relations of the two countries.

According to the paper, based on previous letters of understanding signed between Tehran and Baghdad, the execution of these agreements will deepen even further the relations of the two countries in other fields, and will contribute to regional peace and stability. Also, during the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on relevant issues in the region.

During his official visit to Baghdad, Brigadier General Vahidi met with senior officials of the country, including President Jalal Talabani.

Also on Thursday, the Iraqi president, noting the importance of the Persian minister's trip to Iraq, described as solid and secure the relationships that support the governments in Tehran and Baghdad.

Shoot!  Iran and Iraq coming together??  Is it possible that our military venture to overthrow Saddam Hussein and the blood and treasure we spilled in the process is going to do nothing for us except bring Iraq into bed with Israel's (and our) arch enemy Iran?

Is it possible that God used the U.S. military to bring about this coming change?

Remember, Ezekiel knew nothing of Iraq...it didn't exist until post WWI...so he would have had no idea as he saw his vision of the Persian Empire gathering with other forces to wipe out Israel.

What a day that will be when God himself comes against this coalition!  I sure hope we AREN'T here to see it...but that the Lord has already raptured us home!

18 This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign Lord. 19 In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. 20 The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground. 21 I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign Lord. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. 23 And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
