Voodoo is Alive and Well

Jesus came to SET US FREE from all of the Satanic worship practices that had flooded the earth.  He came to bring TRUTH and to bring a new covenant that HE was the final sacrifice to atone for our sins and provide the ONLY way to God the Father.

However, old Satanic habits and customs don't die easily.  Check out this recent article about voodoo in Haiti.

While reading and looking at the pictures, notice that the author seems VERY PLEASED that the custom of voodoo is thriving.  Obviously the author has a humanist world view where culture and custom are a wonderful thing...even voodoo is a wonderful thing!!

There is many beauty in Haiti. There are mountains, a countryside, a sea and beaches, though what we find many pleasing is a enlightenment of this country. There are many elements that minister to Haiti’s abounding enlightenment and Voodoo (also spelled Vodou and Voudou) is really one of them.

This past week we spent 3 days documenting a annual Voodoo festival during Souvenance, a tiny encampment outward of Gonaives. Souvenance was shaped by transient and liberated slaves from Dahomey (present day Benin) about dual hundred years ago. During this week during Souvenance all of a Rada Iwa, or Voodoo spirits of Dahomey origin, are respected by opposite ceremonies, strain and dance.

The initial day starts with a rite that leads into a dance for a lwa, or spirit, named Legba. The dancing is led by 3 drums and a strain lyrics are a brew of a Kreyol and Dahomey languages. These songs and dances have been upheld on for generations and, judging by all of a children who were singing along, a traditions are not in risk of being lost.

The second day during Souvenance was of several ceremonies that enclosed dancing and a scapegoat of goats, a longhorn and a chicken, and visits to dual trees. One of a trees, called a “Sèp” tree, is where people entangle themselves in a roots to ask for redemption for their wrongdoings.

When we consider about a approach that many people devour beef that has been pumped with hormones and shipped from one place to another to be purchased from a beef territory of a grocery store, a thought of holding a life of an animal from a land where we live and charity it to a gods that we trust in, before regulating a beef to feed your community, creates clarity to me.

The third day during Souvenance was maybe a many beautiful. In a morning there is a way to dual trees. The tree where a dances and ceremonies are hold that day is a ceibo tree called “Lisa,” dedicated in a Voodoo religion.
