Missiles Hit Lebanon

The war in Syria may be spreading to Lebanon.  Many folks are starting to wonder if this is going to break out into a full blown proxy war between the Shiites and the Sunnis.

Two rockets hit a Beirut neighbourhood earlier today raising fears that the bloody civil war in Syria is increasingly seeping across the border into Lebanon.

The rockets, which struck a Hezbollah stronghold in the Lebanese capital and injured four people, came hours after the militant group’s leader Hasan Nasrallah made a speech in which confirmed that his group is playing an active role in supporting Bashar al-Assad’s government.

There have been extensive reports that Hezbollah fighters are actively involved in the desperate fighting for the Syrian border town of Qusair in recent days.

Saying that Hezbollah fighters were taking on Sunni extremists in Syria, Mr Nasrallah said: “We will continue this road until the end, we will take the responsibility and we will make all the sacrifices. We will be victorious.”

Hezbollah has heavy backing from Shia Iran, with analysts in the region fearing that the Syrian conflict is turning into a proxy war in the region.

How much longer until this spills over into Israel?
