Blood Moons...Coincidence or Hype?

A few weeks ago we did a post on the chatter that is coming up regarding the 4 Blood Moons that are supposed to happen in 2014-2015.  According to Pastor Hagee, who has a new book out on the topic, the coming blood moons have to be more than a coincidence.

You can see that discussion here;  http://www.wnd.com/2013/10/blood-moons-expert-watch-2014-and-2015/

Today an anonymous reader emailed me a message that he wanted to make us aware that he believes that we should "stay clear of Hagee" because of Hagee's previous comments from a few years back.  Those comments were regarding the Jews and Israel and that Hagee had come to believe that somehow they may have some other way to the Father that does NOT include Jesus Christ.

I remember that flap from 3-4 years ago and totally agreed at the time that if Hagee was saying that, it had to be a false teaching on his part.  "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man comes to the Father except through me," said Jesus.

Here is a link to get you started in looking into whether or not Hagee may by hyping his blood moons 'coincidence'...and according to this very thoughtful video, Hagee is giving a FALSE TEACHING on this topic.  Here;  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv744bevu20

As always, we need to be Bereans and test EVERYTHING that anyone says by going to the Word of God.  Does the Bible speak of blood moons....yes.  Has Hagee stretched the truth?...I don't know.  I haven't read his book.

Here is what I DO KNOW....Israel has had some incredible, supernatural events that have surrounded its rebirth.  They have also had some supernatural events that have enabled them to hold off enemy forces that far outnumbered them.  In the future, the Bible says that God Himself will supernaturally protect Israel and some of his remnant Jews from the ravages of The Great Tribulation.

Would it surprise me if there were some signs in the sky that pointed to something big coming for Israel?  No.

Does that mean we are supposed to EXPECT some big supernatural happening in the sky and that it WILL RESULT in some big event for Israel?  No.  As always, it will just be interesting to watch and see.

Now here is an even bigger question;  if a pastor makes a claim that you believe to be false, and you even have evidence in God's word that you know it to be false...does that mean that ANYTHING from that day on that comes from that pastor's mouth can't be true??  What if the pastor recognizes his error and repents for it?

If Pastor Hagee did say some false things regarding his beliefs about the Jews and Israel....does that mean that NOTHING can ever be trusted that comes out of Hagee's mouth again?

Does a pastor or Bible teacher have to be perfect in all his thoughts, words or deeds to be trusted?

I sure hope not....otherwise there would be no pastors or Bible teachers.

I believe that it's possible that God uses differences of opinions within The Church to actually flesh out His purposes for our direction.  I believe that Paul and Barnabas got into once...and they were both Apostles!!  "They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company."  Acts 15:39

However, if we find a pastor that is continuously preaching "another gospel"...like one that says there are many ways to heaven, or one that says Jesus' body was never raised, or one that says Jesus never died for our sins, or was never born of a virgin, or was an Arab Muslim....it would be wise to do as Apostle Paul tells us and have "nothing to do" with those false teachers.

Thoughts??

Our church showed the Blood Moon videos that John Hagee made (you can see them for free on You Tube) and in my opinion, I found it to be a lot of hype.

Here's why...

Hagee explains that there have only been 3 tetrads of blood moons in the last 500 years and each time something huge happened to the Jewish nation. He then goes on to say that the next four blood moons will happen starting this year.

He also says to go to the NASA website yourself to confirm when the next "Four Blood Moons" will happen. So, I did.

Here's what I found out along with some additional research thrown in...

Hagee is referring to the four total lunar eclipses that will occur. However, not every total lunar eclipse turns red and even when it does, only a small sliver of the planet will actually even see it turn reddish.

According to Hagee's definition of a blood moon, NASA's website shows that there have actually been 40+ such occurrences within that last 500 years. Quite a stark contrast to his 3.

Hagee makes it a point to say in his video that he's not saying that Christ is coming back during this time cuz "no one knows the time"...BUT he does constantly point to his little chart of the blood moons as he's saying that Christ says he will come back after you see this sign. It's as if Hagee is saying Christ is coming back during this time without saying Christ is coming back during this time. In my opinion...he's predicting Christ's return with a huge disclaimer so he can say he never said that. He's also making a lot of money off of it.

Anyway, here's my thoughts....

Yes, Christ will return after the sign of the moon turning blood red. However I don't think it's going to be because of a nice NASA known future total lunar eclipse. Why would Christ give this warning to look for if only a sliver of the world would see it?

However, there is another way the moon can turn blood red...that happens when there are so many particles of "dirt" in the air that the moon can appear red, such as when a volcano erupts or some other catastrophe happens.

Now, look at what Revelations 6 says: "12 I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13 and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14 The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place."

Before the moon turns red there's a huge earthquake! This could cause the WHOLE world to see the moon turn red. Now that's a real sign!!

Just my thoughts.

Thanks for the posts!

Hey Dennis,

I accidentally misspoke in my previous comment. I meant to say that according to the NASA website there has been 11 tetrads (Four "Blood Moons" in a row) within the last 500 years, but over 50 since the birth of Christ. Sorry for the misinformation!

Thanks Lori! I honestly haven't looked into this except to see a few interviews. It would be interesting to see how many tetrads have happened since 1948. I will check out the NASA site. Thanks again for your comments.

Yes, there has been tetrads before, but have they landed on the feasts of Israel? The odds of blood moons landing on Passover and Tabernacles 2 years in a row have only happened a handful of times throughout history. Plus, when these have happened, it has been during times of Israel having major things happen, like the rebirth of Israel and the 6 Day War. Coincidence? I personally do not think so.

I have read Hagee's book, and I cannot say I agree with all things Hagee says. But I disagree with his theology, not with his teachings on prophecy, for the most part. One thing that has to be pointed out is that Hagee did not discover these tetrads. It was Mark Biltz. He discovered them years and years ago, and Hagee chose to write a book about as it was drawing closer to make more $$ when the book came out. He does mention Biltz, but acts like Biltz just told him to look into the tetrads, and it was he, Hagee, who discovered much of the prophetic implications. I do not agree with that. Biltz deserves much more of the credit than he receives. I have been reading about the tetrads since 2008, long before Hagee had his book. He is merely jumping on the band wagon to make a buck.

That being said, we can look past Hagee altogether, and do some research of our own on the tetrads and find out how truly amazing they are. God is a God of order and He has set the stars to tell His story. He also says that He has set His Feasts and Festivals for prophecy. (Colossians 2:16-17. So when signs in heavens (eclipses) coincide with GOD's feasts (not just Israel's feasts) we need to take note. That is how He has promised He would give signs in His Word. Please do not discount it so easily.

I urge everyone to do some research on the tetrads without touching Hagee's book. It is not Hagee that set the sign is the stars, but our amazing Holy God.

PS. I love this blog. I have read it for quite some time now and thoroughly enjoy it. I am also the owner of Rapture In The Air Now, a forum for Christians to fellowship and discuss end times with each other. (raptureintheainow.com) I want to invite you to join us there, if you would like. God bless you!

I forgot to tell you, my name is Watching and Waiting on the RITAN forum. I didn't think about how it might cause confusion since that is also the name of your blog! In fact, that is how I found your blog, by doing a search of my "name." Haha! Sorry for the confusion! You can just put my name as W&W or even as Chelle, if you choose to publish my response. Thank you!

Thanks, Watching and Waiting, for your comments. I will continue to look into these Tetrads and see if we can make some sense of this all.
