God Never Changes

I have an idea that most of my readers would agree that God never changes.  Society can change, feelings can change, norms can change, practices can change, BUT God never changes.  He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, forever and ever, Amen!

I was reading Jeremiah yesterday and came to Chapter 6.  As I was reading what God said to Judah and how He warned them up until He destroyed them....I couldn't stop thinking about America.

Here is what God said;

Jeremiah 6

10 To whom can I speak and give warning?
    Who will listen to me?
Their ears are closed[a]
    so they cannot hear.
The word of the Lord is offensive to them;
    they find no pleasure in it.
11 But I am full of the wrath of the Lord,
    and I cannot hold it in.
“Pour it out on the children in the street
    and on the young men gathered together;
both husband and wife will be caught in it,
    and the old, those weighed down with years.
12 Their houses will be turned over to others,
    together with their fields and their wives,
when I stretch out my hand
    against those who live in the land,”
declares the Lord.
13 “From the least to the greatest,
    all are greedy for gain;
prophets and priests alike,
    all practice deceit.
14 They dress the wound of my people
    as though it were not serious.
‘Peace, peace,’ they say,
    when there is no peace.
15 Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct?
    No, they have no shame at all;
    they do not even know how to blush.
So they will fall among the fallen;
    they will be brought down when I punish them,”
says the Lord.

Of course I'm not saying that America is Israel, but if we agree that God never changes, and we agree that most Americans now find the word of God "offensive", so much so that they want to scrub it from the public places, and even our churches are filled with people whose 'ears are closed'....then WHY wouldn't we expect the same wrath for America that God had stored up for Judah?

But I am full of the wrath of the Lord,
    and I cannot hold it in.
“Pour it out on the children in the street
    and on the young men gathered together;
both husband and wife will be caught in it,
    and the old, those weighed down with years.
12 Their houses will be turned over to others,
    together with their fields and their wives,
when I stretch out my hand
    against those who live in the land,”

declares the Lord.

"Hey Dennis!  Are you not paying attention at all???  Have you seen the stock market today??  The DOW is closing back up into record territory!  God isn't going to do anything to this great nation....this is AMERICA!!...and as long as we are America God only has plans for blessings, lots of them, continuing to come our way!  Now go and gloom your doom somewhere else!"

Job 12:23
He makes nations great, and destroys them; he enlarges nations, and disperses them.

I didn't realize just how much America supports Israel, disproportionately. Perhaps that is why the economy is doing so well, jobs numbers are fantastic, and stock market is up 300% in 6 years. God must be blessing the USA, given our support of Israel. $3.1 billion annually to Israel...wow!

There can be no doubt the Bible says in reference to Israel, "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you." So while I would agree with you that USA has most likely been blessed tremendously since 1948 when we were the first to recognize and began supporting the fledgling State of Israel....I would take exception to your comments on the "economy doing so well." 48 million on food stamps, $19 trillion and counting in national debt, $1.3 trillion in student loans with 65% of them delinquent, the majority of Americans with little to nothing in savings, Social Security has serious systemic problems, and millions of Americas refuse to work even though they are totally capable...preferring to live off the "generous programs" provided by the Government, and the government is borrowing money from others to fund them!!

I believe America is on the verge of collapse. Possession of material goods and stock market increases are certainly NOT a sign of Divine blessing...in fact they may have something to do with our nation turning full on to the worship of Mammon and the financial trap that Satan is setting for unsuspecting Americans.

Jesus warned us, "You can't serve God and Mammon."....but America seems fully on the path of rejecting God, scrubbing his 10 commandments from all public places and making legal things that God abhors....so MAYBE the false blessings of material goods will one day vanish in an instant...as they have NOTHING to do with the worship of God?
