Have you ever been to a funeral and heard someone say, "Well, God must have needed another angel in heaven because he took (insert dead person's name) way too soon! We will miss (insert dead person's name) forever, but we take comfort in knowing that he/she is always watching over us."
Ummm....that's nowhere in scripture. People are just making that stuff up! It made me think of it when I saw this headline/article a few days ago.
Kim Porter's life honored by family a day after Thanksgiving: 'God has gained a special angel'
The family of Kim Porter released a statement honoring her life a day after Thanksgiving, saying "although we've lost our best friend, God has gained a special angel and we know she is watching over us."
Porter, a former model and actress who was also the longtime former girlfriend of Sean "Diddy" Combs, died unexpectedly last week at age 47. Authorities haven't given a cause.
"God broke the mold when he made Kim, there was truly no other woman like her. Although her time here on earth was far too short, she lived a life full of purpose and meaning. She was a loving mother and devoted friend. She was the epitome of kindness and grace. There wasn't a person she met who's soul she did not touch. Kim was the type of woman who changed lives for the better," the Porter, Goodwin and Combs families say in a statement Friday to The Associated Press. "She will be forever remembered and missed by so many. As her family, we promise to honor her every day of our lives. We love you always."

Angels are all created beings. God made every single one of them. Humans don't get remade into angels when they die. Their soul either goes to be with Jesus or it goes to a dark and terrifying place as the universe awaits the Great White Throne Judgment. They do NOT wander the earth checking in on their grandson's birthday party or attend their wife's wedding when she remarries. They do NOT ring bells, move things on dressers, flicker lights or knock on walls.
There is a great fixed chasm between this life and the afterlife. There is NO GOING BACK AND FORTH. If you are with Jesus you are so amazed to be standing in His presence that you aren't thinking one iota about your kids or grandkids. Plus there is NOTHING we could offer you on earth that could entice you to leave the presence of our Lord and come back to earth for one single day.
If you die and instead immediately yourself in a cold, terrifying place filled with demons and monsters, you will quickly understand that hell is not the party you thought it would be. And there will be no way for you to cry out for Jesus to help you...because that ship already sailed. And chances are that on judgment day the video tape of you saying, "I hope I go to hell when I die because that's where all my friends will be! What a party we will have! Lots of alcohol, gambling and loose women! We will party for all of eternity!"
Luke 16
22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
