Last Gasps of a Dying Empire?

I know that when the 35W bridge collapsed, the islamic nations of the world played the clip on TV over and over. They used it as evidence that the U.S. is collapsing. Now that our financial markets are in turmoil, they see it as more evidence that we are a dying empire and the allah is about to turn the tides on their misfortune. Are we dying? Is there a reason the U.S. is not mentioned anywhere in end-times prophecy?
