It's December 21st...Are You Ready?

Many folks believe that when the Long-count Mayan calender ends today...that the world will end.

Well, it's 1:30 Central time here in MN and I am still typing.

Yes, but the Mayans said it was going to happen at 5:12 THEIR TIME.  Well, THEIR TIME would have been in Guatemala and the pyramids in Guatemala are in the same time zone as MN....so if they are right...we have less than 4 hours.

Are you ready?

Of course, Jesus said no man knows the DAY OR THE HOUR....so you can certainly take it to the bank that anyone who sets a time for the rapture or the end of the world is simply not telling the truth.

However, Paul and Jesus did go on to say that we can know the SEASONS and that if we are awake and sober, that the coming of the Lord in the rapture to take his bride away WILL NOT SURPRISE US. "But you, brothers, are NOT in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief." 1 Thessalonians 5:4

Cool!  How many of us would NOT be totally surprised to hear a huge trumpet blast and the voice of an archangel calling us all into the clouds to meet our Lord and Savior?  I won't be.  If it happens today, tomorrow, next month, next year or 10 yrs from now....I won't be surprised, because all the pieces are in place.  We are in the SEASON of the Lord's return.

But Dennis, how bad could it get here on earth for us believers before the Lord comes?

I don't know.  We may see America collapse and lawlessness and anarchy break out.  We may see a war erupt in the Middle East that drags in a bunch of players including USA.  We may see a huge earthquake that breaks Kansas City in half and puts a halt to the nation's infrastructure and food delivery.  We may see dozens more insane people butcher hundreds of innocent people.  We may see a lot of crazy things.  Satan IS the Prince of this Earth.

In my opinon, if we are allowed to see lots of crazy things, it may be to get us to fall out of love with this world.  As the hymn line says, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace."

Yep.  That hymn writer sure had it right!  If we stay focused on eternal things, the daily cares of this world seem to be not so important...and they just fade away.

But here is a promise from Jesus we CAN TAKE TO THE BANK:

Revelation 3:8-11

I know your works; behold I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept my word, and have not denied my name.| Behold, I will make them who are of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews but are not, but do lie, behold, I will make them to come and worship before your feet, and know that I have loved you. | Because you have kept the word of my patience, I will also keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon all the world, to try them who dwell upon the earth.

Awesome!  So we KNOW that we will NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE GREAT TRIBULATION!  We KNOW that we will be spared the wrath of God which is coming for 'them who dwell upon the earth.'...which is all the folks left behind at the rapture.

Even so...come Lord Jesus!
