The Rocks
In my daily Bible reading I saw something that was interesting and that I hadn't really seen before. I think you can all relate. We may have read a passage 100 times but for whatever reason when you read it for the 101st time you say....hmmmm?
Joshua 24:25-27
25 On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people, and there at Shechem he reaffirmed for them decrees and laws. 26 And Joshua recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak near the holy place of the Lord.
27 “See!” he said to all the people. “This stone will be a witness against us. It has heard all the words the Lord has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue to your God.”
The stone is a witness against us. It has heard all the words the Lord has said to us.
Now let's go to Luke 19
37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”[b]
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
So in the Old Testament over 1000 years before Christ was born we have Joshua talking about stones witnessing. And then we have Christ entering Jerusalem saying these will cry out if the people had stayed silent.
Something that makes you say...hmmmm?
