Birds, Bees, Bats and Dolphins

Lots of strange things happening in the animal kingdom these past few years...birds falling from the skies, massive fish kills, bees disappearing, strange fungus killing millions of bats...and now we have a massive dolphin kill.

WELLFLEET — Marine mammal rescuers continued to scout the coastline of Cape Cod Bay on Friday for additional live or dead common dolphins in what has been the largest mass-stranding event in at least 10 years.

Since Jan. 12, International Fund for Animal Welfare staff members and volunteers have identified 160 short-beaked common dolphins as stranded, organization spokesman Michael Booth said Friday. Of those, 103 have been found dead, 17 have died or been euthanized after being found alive, and 40 have been released to deep waters.

It seems that nature is groaning....
