Earthquakes

Has anyone noticed that there seems to be headlines about earthquakes happening just about every day? Has it always been like this or is this unusual? Today the country of Greece is on edge as they are being rattled. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7244598.stm

I have read the reports of geologists who are saying that, in fact, the frequency of major earthquakes has increased over the past hundred years and even more so in the past ten. What is interesting to me is that Christ talks of birth pangs, or contractions. As they draw closer together and become more intense for the pregnant woman, we know that the baby is close to being delivered. In the same way, many watchers of prophecy believe that God is getting ready to deliver something of major proportions to this earth and the earthquakes and unrest are signs that the world is groaning and anitcipating the coming of the 2nd Adam (Christ) to make all things straight. Christ tells us in Matthew 24 that there will be wars and rumors of wars and earthquakes everywhere...and this will be one sign.

Kid's TV made by Hamas

Most of us grew up with Romper Room or Mr Rogers. The shows were entertaining and maybe even slipped in some learning about math or reading. In Palestine, Hamas has decided to use children's programing to train the next generation of Jew-haters. View clip; http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/1679.htm.

Sadly, all that hatred will ultimately backfire. It appears that's what we are seeing as Hamas fights bloody battles with their brothers in Fatah right in the streets in front of their children. Enter into this scene, President Bush, who goes to Israel and tells the Jews that they need to stop the "occupation" of the Palestinian territories and make peace. Big question...how do you make peace with people who have been brainwashed to hate your guts since before they could walk?

One World

Most people who have even a faint knowledge of prophecy know that the end times speaks of a one world government. Since Christ was raptured from us, bible readers have believed that prophecy to be some sort of symbolic reference since SURELY there would be no way for that to ever be possible. But now, in the last 50 yrs, with the technology that has developed in the communication industry, computers and satelites...for the first time it is possible.
It is interesting to watch the steps towards this goal. We all know that the European Union is off and running, there is also an African Union, and Asian union and an Arab Union was just announced a few weeks ago. Also there is much talk about a North American Union that would join Canada, U.S. and Mexico, but I realize that the talk seems to be happening behind closed doors...so it is still much conjecture.
The UN has also been watched by many as a place that power could be consolidated. With that in mind, you might find the words taken from Chuck Missler's posting, interesting.

SAME OLD DOG, SAME DIRTY TRICKS - (Print)
Following a series of very public and very appalling scandals, the United Nations has come under increased scrutiny. In recent years it has promised to clean up its act, and has enacted new policies and procedures meant to restore its credibility. Unfortunately, it would seem those reforms have done little to purge the international organization of corruption and waste.Last year, in an attempt to reform its corruption-rife procurement system, the UN blacklisted a number of vendors. Among them was an Italian company called Corimec, which gave bribes to UN officials in exchange for lucrative contracts. However less than one month after it was removed from the UN's list of approved vendors the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) purchased several million dollars worth of goods from Corimec. According to FOX News, the UNDP knew that Corimec had been blacklisted, but decided to use them anyway: "…UNDP officials declared that as a legally separate UN agency, they were not bound to honor the Procurement Service sanction…[this is] particularly significant, because the UNDP is the premier agency through which the UN operates on the ground in most of the 160 countries that it services." These events prompt us to wonder if the UN is really serious about cleaning up its act.The procurement service scandal is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. The pattern of corruption in the UN is widespread. A recent internal audit of the UN mission in Sudan, conducted by the UN Office for International Oversight Services, found that the organization has wasted tens of millions of dollars over the past three years. Auditors found "potential fraud indicators and cases of mismanagement and waste" as well as "dozens of irregularities" in how the money was spent - money that should have been used to help the people of Sudan. According to a recent article in the Washington Post, "UN officers in Sudan have squandered millions by renting warehouses that were never used, booking blocks of hotel rooms that were never filled, and losing thousands of food rations to theft and spoilage."Hundreds of thousands of people in the Darfur region of Sudan have been slaughtered, and millions have been forced to flee their homes. The Islamic government that controls Sudan has been accused of genocide, but the United Nations has yet to take decisive action to stop the bloodshed. For the past five years they have done little but deliberate, procrastinate, and make empty threats. The United Nations was created to maintain international peace and help solve the world's economic and humanitarian troubles, but the UN has failed time and time again to accomplish its primary objectives. The UN is plagued by scandal, widespread corruption, favoritism, and financial mismanagement. Furthermore, through its misconduct, negligence, and complacency the UN has aided terrorism and oppression worldwide. It should come as no surprise, that amidst the scandals that have engulfed the UN, the organization has announced plans for a massive overhaul. The huge reforms will be unlike any changes made since the organization was founded in 1945. Historically, government never downsizes voluntarily; it always increases its power and minimizes accountability to its citizens. Government reinvention is frequently an effort to avoid the consequences of failed policies in the past, or to justify a government's continued expansion by posing solutions to the problems it has created. Over the last decade, the United Nations has unabashedly pushed for what it calls "global governance." The UN is positioning itself for real global power and it has become evident that they will use the scandal and the ensuing "reforms" to advance closer to that goal.

No one knows for sure how this will play out, but it is one more sign to watch as all the pieces seem to be coming together for Christ's return at the end of days. These are very exciting times for those who love Christ and look for His appearing, but very anxious times for those who have no idea what the heck is going on.

Israel and Iran

We here in the US haven't heard much, in the past few months, about Iran's quest for a nuclear bomb. That's because a National Intelligence Estimate came out last fall and claimed that Iran had put away it's A-Bomb aspirations back in 2003. So Washington D.C. shut it's mouth and the media lost interest. That's not true with Israel. The NIE changed nothing regarding Israel's concern about Iran. What it did is to make Israel understand that if they are going to address Iran, militarilty, they will have to do it on their own.

More from Russia

I still remember watching in amazement as the Berlin Wall was torn down in the early '90's and the images broadcast all over the world. I remember thinking that the world would now be at peace for a long, long time. So what's up with Russia? First off they build a naval base in Syria, now they are having the biggest war games since the cold war, then they plant a flag on the north pole and start to make movements that they are going to claim that as their own, they sign military agreements with Syria and Iran, (Israel's arch enemies), and now they are taunting various countries all over the world with their military planes, including the US.

and Britain. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2302783.ece

Putin, the Russian leader, spent years in the Russian KGB and is enjoying enormous popularity with his people. He took a big step towards dictatorship this past year when he announced he will step down as President, due to term limits, but created a spot for himself as Prime Minister and basically named the president, who he will control as a puppet.

The entire Russian economy is about the size of New Jersey's economy, so they don't have a lot of positive assets to play with. So if they want to regain prominence and attention in the world, they need to play with their negative assets...planes, bombs and ships. Why do we watch Russia? Since Moscow is directly north of Jerusalem, and the Russians have a long history of Jew hatred and persecution...most watchers believe that they fit the role of Magog in Ezekiel 38.

Iraq

The bible tells us that in the last days the city of Babyon will be rebuilt. As we know, this ancient city is in modern day Iraq. Actually, Saddam Hussein had big plans on trying to rebuild it during his lifetime but never really got it going, except for a 600 room hotel in the Tigris. I believe that the US lead war in Iraq will ultimately bear fruit and that there will be a certain amount of peace in this country that will allow Babylon to come back into existence in a big way. The news has been bad out of Iraq for some time but since the surge 6 months ago, there has been much good news that the media hasn't been trumpeting. Here is some hope;
