Carrington Event Solar Storms Could Cost $40 billion Per Day

We have blogged numerous times on The Carrington Event over the past years.  So some of you might know what it is but many of you probably don't.

The Carrington Event was a massive solar storm that blanketed earth back in 1859.  There was very little electrical infrastructure at that time so most people on planet earth kept plowing with their horses and picking eggs from the coop without any knowledge of what was happening.

However, for the few places that had telegraph, the solar storm was disastrous.  It shocked operators and caused fires in the wooden telegraph offices.

So what if a solar storm of the same magnitude happened on planet earth tomorrow, next month or next year?

Should a powerful solar storm hit Earth, the event could cause blackouts that will likely result in $41.5 billion daily economic losses in the United States alone.

Carrington Event

The most powerful solar flare documented to strike Earth is the Carrington event. The coronal mass ejection, which is produced during solar flares, that struck Earth on September 1859 caused auroras around the world.

Telegraph systems in Europe and North America failed and operators had electric shocks from the devices as a result of the solar event. Some machines also continued to work even after they were disconnected from electricity.

Chances Of A Carrington-Like Event Happening Within The Next Decade

A 2012 paper by space physicist Pete Riley, of Predictive Science in San Diego, California, revealed that the likelihood of another Carrington event happening within the next decade is about 12 percent.
Findings of a new study published in Space Weather revealed the economic impact of such a sufficiently powerful solar storm if it would affect Earth. The event could knock out the transformers needed to transmit electricity throughout the country's power grids which could lead to power blackouts.

Economic Implications Of A Powerful Solar Storm

Earlier studies only looked at the direct economic costs within the blackout zones and did not consider the extreme space weather's indirect impact on domestic and international supply chain.
Now, researchers of the new study said that the direct economic cost that could be incurred from disruption of electricity represents only 49 percent of the possible macroeconomic costs. In most extreme blackout scenario that could affect 66 percent of the population in the United States, domestic economic loss in a day could be $41.5 billion. Loss associated with the international supply chain would be at $7 billion.

"By exploring the sensitivity of the blackout zone, we show that on average the direct economic cost incurred from disruption to electricity represents only 49% of the total potential macroeconomic cost," the researchers wrote in their study.

"Therefore, if indirect supply chain costs are not considered when undertaking cost-benefit analysis of space weather forecasting and mitigation investment, the total potential macroeconomic cost is not correctly represented."

Experts have varied views on the potential severity of blackouts associated with CMEs. Some think that the outages would last only hours or up to a few days. Other think that blackouts would last weeks or even months because transmission networks could be knocked out and would require replacements.

Could this happen?  Absolutely.

POWER OUT FOR MONTHS?????

Wait a second.....we can't survive without power for even a few hours!!  Our freezers!  Our cell phones!  Our laptops!!  Our shopping malls!!  Our heaters!!

Some studies have shown that if power went out for months in America that millions would die.

Of course they would.  Where would they get food?  Where would they get water?  How scared would millions of people stuck in the cities actually become?  How desperate would they become?

Would they be willing to steal food for themselves or their kids?

Yep.

Would they be willing to beat or kill someone to save themselves?

Yep.

You are talking about total societal meltdown.....and according to the article it could happen any day.

So why do we blog about this?

Because I believe it's important to understand how many blessings we take for granted.  Did you have a hot shower today?  Did you have lunch?  Did you sleep in a soft bed last night?  Were you warm under all your blankets on  a cold MN night?  Did you use a flush toilet?  Did you watch the morning news on TV while you ate breakfast?

I also believe it's important to understand just how loose our reality actually is.

I think sometimes we totally forget that we are living on a huge rock spinning around at 1000 mph and hurtling through space at 60,000 mph as the rock makes it's annual pilgrimage around the sun....AND WE DON'T HAVE A STEERING WHEEL!

I believe it's important for us to reflect on, and give praise to God Almighty....who holds the whole world in His hands.  Without Him...we are nothing.

Power Companies Have Been Alerted

A few days ago I posted about 'A Year Without Electricity'. 

Tuesday night a large solar explosion happened and the particles are racing towards earth as we speak.

But fear not....the power companies have been alerted to watch for possible outages.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The largest solar flare in five years is racing toward Earth, threatening to unleash a torrent of charged particles that could disrupt power grids, GPS and airplane flights.

The sun erupted Tuesday evening, and the effects should start smacking Earth around 7 a.m. EST Thursday, according to forecasters at the federal government's Space Weather Prediction Center. They say the flare is growing as it speeds outward from the sun.

But there is the potential for widespread problems. Solar storms have three ways they can disrupt technology on Earth: with magnetic, radio and radiation emissions. This is an unusual situation when all three types of solar storm disruptions are likely to be strong, Kunches said.

That means "a whole host of things" could follow, he said.

The magnetic part of the storm has the potential to trip electrical power grids. Kunches said power companies around the Earth have been alerted for possible outages. The timing and speed of the storm determines whether it will knock off power grids, he said.

OK...as my previous post already described, I don't like living without electricity...because it is no fun.  I hardly made it a day without getting a bit concerned.  So what happens to my "fun index" if this crashing solar storm knocks out our power grid for two days...or two weeks....or two months?

With no electricity, I can't blog!!  And your computer doesn't work to read it anyway!!

Well, according to scientists, we here in Minnesota should start to feel the solar storm about 6 AM Thursday morning...so if you get no blogging from me on Thursday, you will know that, once again, I am sitting in the dark.

Solar Katrina

Remember what a massive event hurricane Katrina was in New Orleans? It was a "perfect storm" that blew in just at the right angle with massive winds and basically destroyed huge parts of the city....and they will never be rebuilt again.

Scientists continue to issue warnings about the growing solar storms that are coming our way.

I had two readers send me two different articles that talk about a "Global Katrina" that could put power out for months.

Remember folks, if the power goes out for months in Minneapolis....you sure better hope you have some food tucked away in your closet, because you won't find a biscuit for 30 miles.

If the storm is powerful enough it could even crash stock markets and cause power cuts that last weeks or months, experts told the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

People need to be aware of the dire consequences a massive solar storm could have on the global infrastructure, Helena Lindberg of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency said at a panel discussion on solar storms at the American Association for the Advancement of Science's annual meeting

"I'm not talking about days or weeks, but several months without electric power, blackouts, across large regions of Europe and the U.S.," she said.

Scientists have been warning for several years that the Earth is entering a new solar cycle characterized by more intense and frequent solar storms, where the sun releases large bursts of electrified gasses. Those storms can disrupt satellites, including the Global Positioning System; fry electronic devices; and even disrupt the electricity grid.

EMP Could Kill 90% of Americans in 12 Months

Many Americans believe that nothing really bad could happen that could affect the entire country.  Sure, they say, we could have another 9/11 or could have another city like Detroit go bankrupt....but those will ALWAYS be isolated events and America will ALWAYS be the greatest nation on earth.

But what if terrorists or some other nation could figure out a way to turn off all our electricity for a few months?  Wouldn't that almost guarantee that America would be gone after a few months with no food, no hot water, no computers and no cell phones?  Wouldn't that essentially vaporize America?

Also please remember that it might not take terrorists to accomplish this...it could also be done by an "Act of God" if a solar storm hit earth in just the right way it could accomplish about the same thing.

If a successful, large scale EMP attack ever did take place, it would be a catastrophe beyond anything that the United States has ever seen before. The EMP Commission, which was established by Congress, says that it is likely that most of us would end up dead…

What would a successful EMP attack look like? The EMP Commission, in 2008, estimated that within 12 months of a nationwide blackout, up to 90% of the U.S. population could possibly perish from starvation, disease and societal breakdown.

-There would be no heat for your home.

-Water would no longer be pumped into most homes.

-Your computer would not work.

-There would be no Internet.

-Your phones would not work.

-There would be no television.

-There would be no radio.

-ATM machines would be shut down.

-There would be no banking.

-Your debit cards and credit cards would not work.

-Without electricity, most gas stations would not be functioning.

-Most people would be unable to do their jobs without electricity and employment would collapse.

-Commerce would be brought to a standstill.

-Hospitals would not be able to function normally.

-You would quickly start running out of medicine.

-All refrigeration would shut down and frozen foods in our homes and supermarkets would start to go bad.

And as I mentioned above, all of this can happen even without an attack.

A direct hit from a major solar storm can cause the exact same thing.

In fact, NASA says that there is a 12 percent chance that such a storm will hit us during the next ten years…

NASA is warning that there’s a 12 percent chance an extreme solar storm will hit Earth in the next decade, sending out massive shock waves that would knock out grids across the world.

The economic impact of this doomsday scenario could exceed $2 trillion — or 20 times the cost of Hurricane Katrina, according to the National Academy of Sciences.

In recent years, we have been really lucky.

There was a close call in 2012 and another one in 2013.

The following is an excerpt from an upcoming book that I have co-authored with Barbara Fix that will soon be published entitled “Get Prepared Now”…

Most people have absolutely no idea that the Earth barely missed being fried by a massive EMP burst from the sun in 2012 and in 2013. And earlier in 2014 there was another huge solar storm which would have caused tremendous damage if it had been directed at our planet. If any of those storms would have directly hit us, the result would have been catastrophic. 

Electrical transformers would have burst into flames, power grids would have gone down and much of our technology would have been fried. In essence, life as we know it would have ceased to exist – at least for a time. These kinds of solar storms have hit the Earth many times before, and experts tell us that it is inevitable that it will happen again. The most famous one happened in 1859, and was known as the Carrington Event. 

But other than the telegraph, humanity had very little dependence on technology at the time. If another Carrington Event happened today, it would be a complete and utter nightmare. A study by Lloyd’s of London has concluded that it would have taken a $2,600,000,000,000 chunk out of the global economy, and it would take up to a decade to repair the damage. Unfortunately, scientists insist that it is going to happen at some point. The only question is when.

So keep an eye on the sun.

Personally, I cannot even imagine what life would be like without electricity.

Because we have become so deeply dependent on technology, most of us would have absolutely no idea how to live without it.

An electromagnetic pulse attack would be one of the fastest ways to cripple America and end the dominance of the United States in world affairs. And in this day and age, there are hundreds of millions of people around the planet that would love to see that happen.

So to not take steps to protect our power grid from such an attack is very foolish. But that is precisely what Barack Obama (and presidents before him) have chosen to do. We have technology which would mitigate the damage from an electromagnetic pulse, but rather than spend the money Obama has decided to just hope that it will never happen.

Up to this point, we have been fortunate.

But someday, our luck may run out.

I certainly HOPE AND PRAY that the rapture of the church is going to happen soon.  If it does, the disappearance of a few million Americans will certainly cause a panic and quite possible make USA insolvent and unable to pay it's debts....BUT....if that doesn't happen and God wants to show us all what happens to a nation that murders babies by the millions, throws His book by the wayside and starts embracing sinful lifestyles with abandon....He certainly could allow us to see what life looks like in the dark....not only spiritually but also literally.

As the EMP Commission Study says.....12 months in America without electricity would mean that about 90% of Americans would be dead.  That for sure would explain why America isn't mentioned anywhere in the Bible when the Last Days are foretold.

The Sun Awakens

Quite a while back (January 12, 2009-http://thetrumpetblows.blogspot.com/search?q=solar+storm&updated-max=2009-01-12T13%3A01%3A00-06%3A00&max-results=20) we posted on solar storms and the havoc they may cause when unleashed on our technological society. Scientists know these storms are coming. Coincidentally they may peak in the year 2012....maybe just in time for all the other chaos that Satan has been setting up for 2012.

Today there is more headlines on these coming solar storms.

Earth and space are about to come into contact in a way that's new to human history. To make preparations, authorities in Washington DC are holding a meeting: The Space Weather Enterprise Forum at the National Press Club on June 8th.

Richard Fisher, head of NASA's Heliophysics Division, explains what it's all about:

"The sun is waking up from a deep slumber, and in the next few years we expect to see much higher levels of solar activity. At the same time, our technological society has developed an unprecedented sensitivity to solar storms. The intersection of these two issues is what we're getting together to discuss."

The National Academy of Sciences framed the problem two years ago in a landmark report entitled "Severe Space Weather Events—Societal and Economic Impacts." It noted how people of the 21st-century rely on high-tech systems for the basics of daily life. Smart power grids, GPS navigation, air travel, financial services and emergency radio communications can all be knocked out by intense solar activity. A century-class solar storm, the Academy warned, could cause twenty times more economic damage than Hurricane Katrina.

OK...did you catch all those things I put in bold? I love the one about "...can all be knocked out by intense solar activity." Also "....twenty time more damage than Katrina."

I wonder if the USA can afford a solar storm that causes $100 billion of damage today? Where would we get the money to fix the damage? Would China loan us the money? Japan? Europe??

I know a place that would probably do it...the IMF (International Monetary Fund)!! I wonder if they will let us print money to pay them back?

Maybe Al Gore can make a movie about a solar storm ruining earth and we can have all the nations of the earth throw in printed money and I.O.U.'s into a "solar cap and trade" system? Then we could launch two HUGE rockets carrying a HUGE sun shade....like the one's you hang over your deck. Once in place it would block most of the suns rays and solar storms from ever hitting earth!!

Oh wait....I guess that would make us all die of a colossal ice age and starvation because the crops wouldn't grow. Shoot!! What's a guy to do??? It seems you can't live WITH the sun and you can't live WITHOUT it!

When will tiny, impotent man learn that we are helpless while traveling through the galaxy on a space ship made of rock, spinning on it's axis at 1000 mph, while orbiting a huge fireball called the sun that could destroy us if it spits up too much?

Newt Warns of Power Outage Lasting Months

Four years ago we started posting on EMP's (Electro Magnetic Pulse) and how our electricity supply is America's Achilles heal.  Without electricity our entire civilization comes to a screeching halt.  Remember, an EMP could be caused by somebody detonating a nuclear bomb above our atmosphere OR it could be caused by a solar storm.

This past week we had Newt Gingrich, who was one of the most powerful men in our nation and also one of the smartest, saying some pretty interesting things about the danger in our electrical grid.

July 14, 2012 – WASHINGTON - After recent storms knocked out power for more than 3 million people in the middle of a record heat wave former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich decided to open up about America’s vulnerable power grid. In an opinion piece posted on The Washington Post Gingrich writes: “Without power, the comforts of home become worthless. You sit in the sweltering heat, realizing you are living in a box that, without electricity, is a trap. You pray for the “juice” to return before your groceries go bad. You either make do in the heat or find refuge with friends who have electricity.” Newt claims that the power grid is created in such a ways that doomsday-level damage could be caused if the United States were to be hit with an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) strike or even a major solar storm. The former speaker is worried that a nuclear weapon detonated over the atmosphere of the continental United States could cause an EMP that would knock power out for months, perhaps even years. Gingrich also points to the Carrington Event of 1859, a solar storm that since that time has caused geomagnetic disturbances every 75 years. While we make think the possibility of a solar storm causing major issues is not possible in 1989 a space storm knocked out power to millions of people in Quebec for several hours. Several hours during a moment of attack is all it would take to leave the United States vulnerable to attack, not to mention disrupting telecommunications, transportation and general power. So what exactly could be affected? Newt Gingrich provides the following scenario: “Suppose that, rather than being a temporary disruption in our lives, the power outage lasted weeks or months, or even years. Consider what state all of us, from the richest to the poorest, would be in if we were still literally in the dark. Millions could be trapped in houses or apartments that were never designed for this climate without air conditioning. I have to say this one more time....DON'T YOU THINK IT'S INTERESTING that NBC has a TV series coming out in September, called REVOLUTION, that is the story of what happens in America when we lose power for years?

How come nobody has shouted Newt down and called him an idiot for his preposterous statements here?  Maybe because they are preparing us for something?  Maybe the know something we don't?  Maybe because they know that it ultimately will happen, just as Newt says, they just don't know when. 

Largest Solar Storm Ever

We have blogged on The Carrington Event numerous time over the years.  It happened in 1859 before electricity was a widely used thing.  If it happened today cell phones, electricity service, electronic ignition cars and basically every appliance that requires electricity could be useless…and it could last for months. Can you imagine what America would descend into if the lights went out for a week?  How about a month or two?

Last night the Earth experienced the strongest geomagnetic storm since 2017, but it was minor compared to the one triggered by the most powerful solar storm on record in 1859, known as the Carrington Event. Now, we learn the disruption to the Earth’s magnetic field during the Carrington Event was even greater than previously estimated. A combination of modern digital tracing and detailed reconstruction have mined records of the Earth’s magnetic field at the time to reveal more than was thought possible. The finding reinforces how vulnerable modern society could be to a repetition of an event like this.

On September 1, 1859, the Sun spewed electrified gas and subatomic particles amounting to the energy of 10 billion atomic bombs towards the planet, causing telegraph communications to fail, literally shocking operators, and causing systems to catch fire. Northern Lights were reported as far south as Cuba and Hawaii, allowing witnesses to read newspapers by the light of the auroras alone. 

Solar storms have occurred throughout Earth’s existence. However, our estimates of scale relied on very indirect measures like the presence of certain radio-isotopes in tree rings. In recorded history reports of enormous auroras can hint at the timing of solar storms, but are of little use in estimating size. Consequently, our data on just how big solar storms can get stretches back less than two centuries. 

As chance would have it, the Carrington Event, easily the largest storm in that time, occurred when such tracking was in its infancy.  Records made at the time have been found to hold more information about the Event than had been thought, and it’s not good news for those preparing for future impacts in a more wired world.

Had the Carrington Event occurred even a few decades later than its actual date of 1859, it would have had electricity and long railway lines to electrify, not just telegraphs. At least, however, we’d have known its size better.

“Earth Bracing for Blackouts”, Caused by Solar Storm

When you see this headline, you just have to post it.  We have posted numerous times in the past about the Carrington Event that happened 150 years ago.  We have also pointed out that if the electricity were to go out in America for a few weeks or a few months that the carnage, looting, mayhem and death would be incalculable.

Could this be the Perfect Geo-storm?

October is off to a hot start: The sun unleashed a massive X-class solar flare — the “strongest of its kind,” according to Space.com — that has the potential to pummel our planet with a powerful geomagnetic storm this week.

The supercharged sunburst erupted from sunspot AR3842 on Tuesday evening. 

It clocked in at X7.1, making it the second most powerful in the last seven years after the monster X8.7 magnitude in May, Live Science reported.

This also triggered a coronal mass ejection (CME) — when plasma and magnetic particles burst forth from the sun’s surface — which is slated to strike the Earth on Friday at around 4 p.m., according to Spaceweather.com.

When this occurs, meteorologists predict it will penetrate the Earth’s magnetic field, triggering a strong “G3-class geomagnetic storm” —  the third most powerful category after the G4 and G5. 

These phenomena have the potential to impact navigation systems, power grids and even satellite communications, Space.com reported.

Solar Storms Hitting Earth Could be Catastrophic

 Many years ago we blogged on The Carrington Event.  It happened back in the late 1800’s when electricity had just started to be used in America and power lines mostly ran along railroad lines to connect rail stations.  A solar storm of such strength scored a direct hit on planet earth and fired all the electrical lines and even lit the rail stations on fire because the lines got so hot.  Scientists tell us this will happen again and when it does may knock out all vehicles with electronic ignition and may knock out the entire US power grid.  If you want to, ponder how quickly America, and the world, would turn into Armageddon and chaos if the lights went out for 6 months.  Science says it could happen.  If it did happen,  chances are better it would happen during a solar maximum which happens in 2023.

The solar maximum, which occurs in 2023 at the end of the Sun's 11-year cycle, is soon to arrive. The occurrence of solar storms has become more frequent recently, albeit their power is still relatively low. Because of this, these solar storms have not caused any harm to Earth except for producing  auroras in the northern sky and briefly disrupting radio communications. A horrifying development, however, may soon change all that. 

The number of sunspots and concomitant unstable eruptions on its surface will grow as it approaches that location. And as a result, one of the most catastrophic solar storm catastrophes to ever strike Earth is possible. And indeed, it is capable of great destruction.

Sun Awakens

We started blogging about solar flares a few years ago because of an article we had seen in the Wall Street Journal tipping us off to how vulnerable our power grid is to solar flares.  And of course the Achilles heel of America, and the Western world, is electricity.  When the lights don't come on....NOTHING works and anarchy starts about 10 minutes later.

And on June 7, it woke up Michael Hesse. At 5:49 a.m., the solar scientist received an alert on his smartphone. NASA spacecraft had seen a burst of X-rays spinning out from a sunspot. The burst was a solar flare — and a “notably large one” at that, Hesse said later.

The sun has been quiet for years, at the nadir of its activity cycle. But since February, our star has been spitting out flares and plasma like an angry dragon. It’s Hesse’s job to watch these eruptions.
  
If a big one were headed our way, Hesse needed to know, and fast, so he could alert the electric power industry to brace for a geomagnetic storm that could knock some of the North American power grid offline.

Communications satellites will be knocked offline. Financial transactions, timed and transmitted via those satellite, will fail, causing millions or billions in losses. The GPS system will go wonky. Astronauts on the space station will huddle in a shielded module, as they have done three times in the past decade due to “space weather,” the scientific term for all of the sun’s freaky activity. Flights between North America and Asia, over the North Pole, will have to be rerouted, as they were in April during a weak solar storm at a cost to the airlines of $100,000 a flight. And oil pipelines, particularly in Alaska and Canada, will suffer corrosion as they, like power lines, conduct electricity from the solar storm.

Holy lights out!!  Can you imagine life with no cell phones, no lap tops, no financial transactions?  Make no mistake about it, THIS WILL HAPPEN...we just don't know exactly when....but it could be later today.  Are you ready for the foundations to be shaken??

Here Comes the Sunstorm

Yes, we know the sun is in an exceedingly volatile state.  We know that the sun goes through cycles that can spit out massive solar storms...and we also know that there was a HUGE solar storm back in 1859 known as the Carrington event.  That solar storm was so huge that campers in the mountains of Colorado reported that it was so bright in the middle of the night, due to the massive northern lights display, that they started breaking camp because they thought it was morning.

But in 1859 the nation didn't even have electricity so it really didn't affect the horse drawn culture which was in use.

But what if a storm of that magnitude were to happen today?

The sun is expected to hit a peak eruption period in 2013, and while superstorms don't always occur in peak periods, some warn of a disaster. John Kappenman, a consultant and former power engineer who has spent decades researching the storms, says the modern power grid isn't hardened for the worst nature has to offer. He says an extreme storm could cause blackouts lasting weeks or months, leaving major cities temporarily uninhabitable and taking a massive economic toll.

"This is arguably the largest natural-disaster scenario that the nation could face," said Mr. Kappenman.

Ouch!  Having our major cities blacked out for weeks or months would be a MAJOR problem...not just because of the anarchy...but imagine the blow to the U.S. economy if not one single worker were able to show up to work for months!  Do you think such an event might collapse the value of our dollar?

To me, this is just one more piece of evidence that God is trying to warn man of his folly in believing that HE is able to control his own destiny.  Volcanoes can not be quenched, earthquakes can not be stopped, tsunamis can't not be controlled, tornadoes can not be put back in the clouds...the lists goes on and on.

But instead of helpless man turning back to his creator and humbling himself in front of Almighty God....we just continue to believe that we have everything under control.  Who needs God??

More 2012 Dire Predictions

Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know that I posted some interesting articles surrounding the year 2012. It seems lots of chatter is being mentioned of apocolyptic proportions that coincide with that year. The one being repeated the most is that the Mayan calendar ends in December 2012. That Mayan calender devised some thousands of years ago was accurate to within a few seconds and modern man has no idea how the Mayans could possibly have attained the knowledge to put it together.

Today, NASA is telling us that a solar storm is coming for the world and it's peak is going to be in the year 2012.

"The sun is currently near minimum on its 11-year activity cycle, the report explains, but is expected to produce solar storms that will increase in intensity and frequency as it approaches peak activity levels in 2012.
The NASA report warns that if the sun's activity over the next few years flares to the level of the May 1921 "superstorm" or the so-called Carrington event of 1859, a "perfect storm" that Space.com called "the most powerful onslaught of solar energy in recorded history," the U.S. may not be equipped to handle the damages.
"The impacts of severe space weather events," the report states, "can go beyond disruption of existing technical systems and lead to short-term, as well as to long-term collateral socioeconomic disruptions."
The report listed possible cascading effects of a major solar storm as "disruption of the transportation, communication, banking and finance systems, and government services; the breakdown of the distribution of potable water owing to pump failure, and the loss of perishable foods and medications because of a lack of refrigeration."
In addition, the researchers warn, "Emergency services would be strained, and command and control might be lost."

As we all know, the achilles heel of the 21st century technology is electricity. Without electricity, virtually NOTHING would work in the U.S. and or Western civilization. If the lights go out and the pumps can't pump drinking water...the whole country will slide into anarchy in a period of hours.

The bible tells us to "Consider the lillies and how they grow. They don't reap and they don't sow but God still cares for them." And so He will care for his children that are much more valuable than lillies.

I ask the question; If modern man has built their own Tower of Babel using technology as our attempt to be as wise as God...why wouldn't God disrupt our tower just like he disrupted the first tower?

A Warning From God, Or Just Coincidence?

Is it strange to you that America witnessed a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse and that while we were viewing it a massive hurricane called Harvey started cooking off the coast of Africa and came slamming into Texas?

Is it strange that Irma followed along a few weeks later and slammed into Florida?

Is it a coincidence that while all this is going on, the America West is being decimated by huge wildfires?

Some people might blame it all on global warming.  Others might call it a coincidence.  Other's might say it's the result of the earth groaning while creation anticipates the return of Christ and the curse being removed from earth.

Was the Aug. 21, 2017 total solar eclipse a warning for America to repent of its sin?

One, my heart and prayers go out to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. I have no desire to add to their suffering. Prophecy Plus Ministries has sent a contribution. We encourage others to do the same.

Two, I am not qualified to say whether the total solar eclipse was a warning or not, but if God was warning America to repent, it is a mistake to be one of those that are ridiculing the idea. The people of Texas and Louisiana have suffered the most, but the entire U.S. is going to pay a price and the cost will keep increasing, if there is no repentance.

Three, because darkness was one of the Ten Plague warnings to Egypt’s Pharaoh to let God’s people go (Ex. 10:21-23) some Jewish rabbis believe darkness caused by an eclipse is a warning from God.

Four, the total solar eclipse was seen only in America so some Jewish rabbis believe it was a warning to America.

Five, if the total solar eclipse was a warning to America, repentance is needed all over America not just in Texas and Louisiana. To deny that America needs repentance is seriously wrong. Repentance would be good for America not bad.

Six, God told Noah to warn people that He was going to send a Flood to destroy the earth (Gen. 6:1-7:12).

Seven, God told Jonah to warn the people of Nineveh to repent or He would overthrow them in 40 days (Jonah 3:1-10). NASA and Cuneiform tablets confirm that here was an eclipse in Nineveh shortly before Jonah arrived.

Eight, God sent two angels to warn Lot that He was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 19).

Nine, when God sends a disaster to warn people to repent (II Chron. 7:13), if His people will humble themselves, and pray, and seek His face, and repent, He will forgive their sins and heal their land (II Chron. 7:14; Jonah 3:10).

Ten, since the sun is almost 400 times as big as the moon, the sun would have to be about 400 times farther away from the earth than the moon is for them to appear to be about the same size. That is the way it is and it is not likely to be an accident.

Eleven, Anne Graham Lotz (Billy Graham’s daughter), Mark Biltz, Steve Cioccolanti and others were preaching that the total solar eclipse could be a warning from God.

Twelve, the total solar eclipse was unusual in many ways:

a) Jerusalem, the Holy City that is associated with the Tribulation period, probably got its name from the King of Salem called Melchizedek (Gen. 14:18);

b) The sun set in Jerusalem at the exact moment the eclipse started in the U.S.;

c) The first U.S. city to experience the eclipse was Salem, Ore.;

d) The eclipse occurred over seven cities (a significant Bible number) in the U.S. named Salem;

e) It has been almost one generation since Israel became a nation in 1948;

f) It has been about six God-Days (6 X 1,000 years = 6,000 years since God created Adam;

g) The Aug. 21, 2017 total solar eclipse will be followed by a second total solar eclipse in 2024 (about 7 years apart) and they will make an “X” over the U.S. with the center of the “X” being an area in Illinois that is often called “Little Egypt” (Darkness was one of the Ten-Plague warnings in Egypt and the only place in the U.S. that will be crossed by both eclipses is called “Little Egypt.”

Thirteen, God controls the weather and He uses it to fulfill His Word (Job 38:24-28; Psa. 135:6-7, 148:7-8; Luke 21:25).

Fourteen, on Aug. 21, 2017 Harvey was a tropical storm. Three days later, it became a Category 1 Hurricane (at 1 pm on Aug. 24). Less than 30 hours later it had grown to a Category 4 Hurricane (at 6 pm on Aug. 25). It made landfall 4 hours later (at 10 pm on Aug. 25).

Fifteen, when Harvey made landfall it got trapped by two high pressure systems. As powerful as it was, it was boxed in and it couldn’t break loose. It just kept spinning and dumping rain. Who besides God can trap a Category 4 hurricane?

There are many reasons why America needs to repent: pushing the two-state solution to divide Israel and Jerusalem, abortion; the U.S. Supreme Court redefinition of marriage, LGBT issues, the globalist effort to create a world government, violence and bloodshed all over America, silent pastors and church members, corruption in the swamp and media, and more.

Did you notice that the first item on the list is pushing the two-state solution to divide Israel and Jerusalem? Look at event number Fourteen above. Notice that Harvey went from being a tropical storm on Aug. 21, 2017 to being a Hurricane on Aug. 24, 2017.

Now notice what was going on with the peace negotiations in the Middle East: President Trump’s Advisor and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and his “negotiating team” went to Saudi Arabia and Qatar on Aug. 21, 2017, Jordan on Aug. 22, 2017, Egypt on Aug. 23, 2017 and they arrived in Israel on Aug. 23, 2017 for a next-day meeting with Prime. Min. Netanyahu on Aug. 24, 2017.

God said He will drag the nations into the battle of Armageddon for scattering the Jews and dividing the land of Israel (Joel 3:2). The total solar eclipse over the U.S. occurred on the same day Jared Kushner and his team went to Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Hurricane Harvey made landfall in the U.S. on the same day Jared Kushner and his team met with Prime. Min Netanyahu in Jerusalem (or ancient Salem).

The total solar eclipse passed over “Little Egypt” in the U.S. one day before Jared Kushner and his team were in Egypt to discuss Pres. Trump’s “ultimate deal.”

Is there a connection between the eclipse, Jerusalem and Hurricane Harvey?

It has been said, “There are no coincidences with God.” These things are either a warning from God or coincidences. Each person should decide for their own self.

Many are reluctant to say these things are a warning from God to repent, but if they are people need to stop ridiculing it, they best get on their knees soon and the U.S. needs to end the so-called peace process immediately.

If God’s patience with America is waxing thin, there are no words to describe what America may experience in the next few weeks or months (Israel attacked – God and Magog, economic collapse, increased violence, birth pang type natural disasters, persecution, only God knows what else.

What we do know for sure is that it is ALWAYS a good time to repent of sin.  It's also ALWAYS good to pray for our leaders and to thank God for allowing us to live in the greatest nation that the modern world has ever seen.

Sadly, most churches in America are refusing to preach on prophecy and/or the imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  They think that if they tell people that Jesus could return at any moment that it would scare them away!!  How strange to think that a "Christian" congregation could be scared of Jesus?

So if 50% of American's don't go to church and the the other 49% who do attend but will never hear about birth pangs, national sin, Israel's return as a nation, Isaiah 17, Ezekiel 38 or the rapture.....that leaves a VERY SMALL number of Americans who actually watch the news and wonder if the mayhem all around us has anything to do with what the Bible says is coming.

Rare Northern Lights

We have been blogging about the solar storms that are upon us and set to peak in 2012.  A few days ago a big explosion on the sun sent solar particles on a collision course with earth that caused a rare light show of Northern Lights that were visible way down south where they don't see such things.

A giant mass of plasma spat from the sun on Saturday morning hit the Earth Monday afternoon, causing an unusually colored light show that dazzled skywatchers.

Mother Nature's majesty was on display following a coronal mass ejection (CME) that hit the planet at approximately 2:00p.m. EDT on October 24, reported Spaceweather.com, a website dedicated to tracking solar wind, solar storms and other interstellar events.

The impact strongly compressed Earth's magnetic field, the site reported, exposing geosynchronous satellites to solar wind plasma -- and sparking a dazzlingly intense geomagnetic storm

"Wow, wow, wow! These were the best Northern Lights I've seen since 2004," said Shawn Malone. The photographer told FoxNews.com that the auroras he spied in Northern Michigan were the best in years

Spaceweather.com reported aurora sightings stretching across the United States, from New Mexico and California to Kansas, Iowa, Maryland and New York.

The event reached the G1 level on NOAA's space weather scale for geomagnetic storms, the lowest level on a five point scale. When such storms reach G5 levels, NOAA warns to watch for problems with the electricity grid and problems with spacecraft and satellites.

Did you see that warning at the end about G5 levels that can wreak problems on the electric grid?  Can you imagine a big solar storm knocking out all the power to Minneapolis and St Paul and suburbs for a few months?  What kind of chaos would happen then?  Do you believe everyone would just sit and calmly wait for the government aid to show up with hot sandwiches, soup and water?

Guess again.

Solar Storm

In case you missed the post a few weeks ago, I will post this story again as it seems to finally be going mainstream. It seems that scientists are telling us that a major solar storm is in the making and if we have a storm of the same magnitude that we had a century ago, it could knock out all electricity for months...which the U.S. would have a hard time surviving. One thing for sure, with all the great technology that we have it would all come to a sudden halt if electricity is not readily available.

EMP Could Kill 9 of 10 Americans

This is a pretty interesting headline to see on INVESTORS BUSINESS DAILY.

EMP Attack On Power Grid Could Kill 9-In-10

Vulnerability: Expert testimony before Congress on Thursday warned that an electromagnetic pulse attack on our power grid and electronic infrastructure could leave most Americans dead and the U.S. in another century.

That dire warning came from Peter Vincent Pry, a member of the Congressional EMP Commission and executive director of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security.

He testified in front of the House Homeland Security Committee's Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection and Security Technologies that an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) event could wipe out 90% of America's population.

Most people's eyes might glaze over upon mention of the committee name, the title of the hearing — "Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP): Threat to Critical Infrastructure" — and the general subject of EMP. But it is a real threat and not the stuff of science fiction.

Some attention has been paid to the potential cataclysmic effects of a natural phenomenon such as a massive solar storm, an event that has occurred in America's horse-and-buggy era when it did not matter.

Today an electromagnetic pulse event would be devastating. It wouldn't need a solar storm, just a solitary nuke detonated in the atmosphere above the American heartland. We would envy the horse-and-buggy era.

"Natural EMP from a geomagnetic superstorm, like the 1859 Carrington Event or 1921 Railroad Storm, and nuclear EMP attack from terrorists or rogue states, as practiced by North Korea during the nuclear crisis of 2013, are both existential threats that could kill 9-of-10 Americans through starvation, disease and societal collapse," the Washington Free Beacon quoted Pry as saying.

As we reported early last year, Pry, a former CIA nuclear weapons analyst, believes that North Korea's recent seemingly low-yield nuclear tests and launch of a low-orbit satellite may in fact be preparations for a future electromagnetic pulse attack.

A copy of a report prepared by the Department of Homeland Security for the Defense Department, obtained by Pry from sources within DHS, finds North Korea could use its Unha-3 space launch vehicle to deliver a nuclear warhead as a satellite over the South Pole to attack America from the south.

As the Heritage Foundation has reported, an EMP attack with a warhead detonated 25 to 300 miles above the U.S. mainland "would fundamentally change the world:"

"Airplanes would fall from the sky; most cars would be inoperable; electrical devices would fail. Water, sewer and electrical networks would fail simultaneously. Systems of banking, energy, transportation, food production and delivery, water, emergency services and even cyberspace would collapse."

Airplanes would fall from the sky?  Cars wouldn't start?  Water, sewer, banking, energy, transportation, food production?  Every thing just stops??  Even cyberspace would collapse??

Wow!  That sounds like the Great Tribulation!

The article says if this were to happen that we would 'envy the horse and buggy days.'

Hey...just a thought here...what if God allowed an EMP to happen in America so that all of our stuff, money and material possessions were taken away in the blink of an eye...and we were to quickly realize how worthless the god of Mammon (materialism) actually is?

Could one day we find that God allowed America to be destroyed because of OUR unfaithfulness??  After all...God is never changing...

"But Dennis!  Come on now....God isn't mean like that! My god would never allow such a thing!  He would never put us through hardship, suffering and despair...because he loves us all...just as we are!!"

Or so says the believers of the false gospel that is so popular in our churches today.

Electronic Armageddon?

The news of increasing solar storm activity is continuing to sneak out in the news headlines. This one really caught my attention;

Electronic Armageddon? Congress Worries That Solar Flares Could Spell Disaster

High-energy electric pulses from the sun could surge to Earth and cripple our electrical grid for years, causing billions in damages, government officials and scientists worry.

The House is so concerned that the Energy and Commerce committee voted unanimously 47 to 0 to approve a bill allocating $100 million to protect the energy grid from this rare but potentially devastating occurrence.

They then jump to the topic of Electro Magnetic Pulse bombs. (EMP)

It's the fear of an EMP, specifically a high-altitude pulse caused by a solar event, that has Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) worried.

“It would cost about $100 million to protect the grid from EMP," he said in a speech at the House. "The consequences of inaction are dire. If our grid is destroyed by EMP, the National Academies warn it would cost us between $1 trillion and $2 trillion in damages and take four to 10 years to recover.”

If you read through the headlines even from one single day....it sure appears as if a perfect storm is forming....it's simply a question of whether the storm clouds will blow by or if it will result in a HUGE tornado.

Thank you Jesus that you have already given us the ending to this story....and that we will be safe in your arms before the wrath of God is ultimately poured out.

Solar Storm Coming and Could Trigger Auroras

Did any of you go outside last night at look North?  The Northern Lights were visible to everybody here in Buffalo, Mn.  So yes, they’re beautiful to look at but let’s remember that the same solar storms that produce them could one day knock out our power grid.  I think we can all kind of imagine what would happen in America if the lights went out for 10-20-30 days or more.  You’re talking about chaos, the likes of which have never been seen before.  A storm of this magnitude has happened in the past.  The Carrington Event is something we have blogged on over the years.  Look it up.  

It’s a reminder to us all how tiny, insignificant and helpless we are to control anything while we spin on this globe, hurtling around the sun.  And yet God holds it all in His hands.

Space weather forecasters issued an alert on Tuesday for incoming severe solar storms that could produce colorful northern lights and temporarily disrupt communications.

 In the past few days, the sun has burped out several bursts of energy called coronal mass ejections that could reach Earth Tuesday night and early Wednesday. The potential severe geomagnetic storms could disrupt radio and GPS communications, according to forecasters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

How bright the auroras are and how far south they are visible will depend on when the solar bursts get here and how they interact with Earth's atmosphere. The vibrant displays could be visible across much of the northern U.S., and as far south as Alabama and Northern California.

Humongous Solar Flare

It is really quite humbling to realize how out of control we really are...in other words, we are in control of nothing.

We all live on a massive rock that is hurtling millions of miles per year around the sun...and we can't steer the rock in the least.  We just go wherever the earth goes.

We don't control the temp of the sun, we can't control ocean currents, we don't control asteroids that could smash into us, and the list goes on and on.

With that being said, the sun has been in a rather explosive rage as of late.  It was only recently revealed that in 2012, earth narrowly missed flying right through a solar explosion that could have knocked out all of our electricity for months.  That would have been interesting....

Today we find that NASA recently photographed a solar flare that was 'humongous' and was the best observed flare EVER!

Four spacecraft and one ground-based observatory recorded the eruption of a powerful X-class solar flare on March 29, making it the best-observed such event in history, NASA officials say.

Solar flares are powerful explosions with energies exceeding that of millions of hydrogen bombs. Never before has an X-class flare — the most energetic type — been observed by so many telescopes at once. A NASA video of the monster solar flare features several views of the March 29 sun storm.

The data from the unprecedented observation could help scientists better understand what catalyzes flares, and possibly predict when they will happen in the future — valuable information, considering that flares can cause radio blackouts on Earth, potentially disrupting aircraft, ship and military communication. 

In addition, NASA's Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) and the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), a joint NASA/European Space Agency effort, studied a coronal mass ejection (CME) that accompanied the flare.

CMEs, superheated clouds of plasma blasted into space at millions of miles per hour, can wreak havoc if they hit Earth, spawning geomagnetic storms that can potentially disrupt radio communications, GPS signals and power grids.

Jesus holds all things together..."through Him all things are made".  This world isn't going to end one second before Jesus says so.  America is not going to go dark one second before Jesus says so...but isn't it amazing to observe how many people can look at this awesome creation and these startling photographs, and still come to the conclusion that "there is no god?"

Near Miss in 2012

Remember all that talk about the world coming to an end in 2012?  Well, it turns out it almost did!

A solar storm narrowly missed us that would have put out our electricity for months...effectively ending the world as we know it.

Fierce solar blasts that could have badly damaged electrical grids and disabled satellites in space narrowly missed Earth in 2012, researchers say.

The bursts would have wreaked havoc on the Earth's magnetic field, matching the severity of the 1859 Carrington event, the largest solar magnetic storm ever reported on the planet. That blast knocked out the telegraph system across the United States, according to University of California, Berkeley research physicist Janet Luhmann.

"Had it hit Earth, it probably would have been like the big one in 1859, but the effect today, with our modern technologies, would have been tremendous," Luhmann said.
